RAJKOT 9 GUN SALUTE
STATE
Rajkot state formerly Rewa Western India States Agency,
merged into Saurashtra; now in Gujarat state. area of state was 283 Sq. Miles
or 730 Sq.Km. comprising of 60 villages and population of the state was 75,540
in 1931. Privy purse of state at the
time of accession in to India on 15 Feb.1948
was Rs.2,85,000. It was a 9 gun salute state belonging
to the Kathiawar Agency of the Bombay Presidency. Its
capital was in Rajkot, located
in the historical Halar region
of Kathiawar on
the banks of the Aji River.
Nowadays Rajkot is the fourth largest city of Gujarat state.
