PUNADRA NON SALUTE STATE
Indian Princely State Punadra, Formerly
Sabar Kantha (earlier Mahi Kantha) Western India states Agencies : merged in
Bombay, now in Maharashtra State. Area of state 28 Sq.Km. comprising of 11
Villages with a Population of 2,330 in 1931. Privy purse of the state was 8,100 Rs. at the time of
accession on10 June 1948 .
Punadra was a Fourth
Class princely state and taluka, comprising ten more
villages, covering eleven square miles in Mahi Kantha, ruled by Koli Chieftains who
converted to Islam.
It had a combined
population of 2,662 in 1901, yielding a state revenue of 15,598 Rupees (mostly
from land), paying a tribute of 375 Rupees to the Gaikwar Baroda State.
