 KHAIRAGARH                                                                   (NON  SALUTE  STATE)


         Khairagarh state was formerly Riapur District, now in Chhattisgarh State , area of state was 931 Sq Miles comprising of 512 villages and population of state was 157,000 in 1931, Privy purse of state at the time of accession on1January 1948  was Rs.102,300.

                                          Khairagarh estate was founded in 1833. In 1898 Khairagarh estate was recognized as a state. Most of the inhabitants of the state were GondsLodhisChamars and Ahirs distributed in 497 small villages besides the main town. The rulers were Rajputs of the Nagavamshi dynasty. Khairagarh State's last ruler signed the accession to the Indian Union on 1 January 1948.
