Jaipur
State was a princely
state of India from 1128 to 1947. It was centred on Jaipur town.
It existed from the 12th century until Indian Independence in 1947.
according to the different periods of history it was also known as Jaipur
Kingdom, Amber Kingdom, Dhundhar Kingdomand Kachwaha
Kingdom.. Jaipur formerly Rajputana State
Agency, now in Rajasthan State , area of state was 15,601 Sq miles ,and
population of state was 26,31,775 in 1931, Privy purse of state at the time of
accession in to independent India was
Rs.18,00,000.
Jaipur state was founded in the Dhundhar region.
Its predecessor state was the Dhundhar (Dausa) kingdom, founded in 1093 by
Duleh Rai, also known as Dulha Rao. Jaipur state was known as Amber between the
fourteenth century and 1727. In that year, a new capital was built and named
Jayapura, then the kingdom was renamed Jaipur.

KHETRI (THIKANA OF JAIPUR
STATE)
Khetri estate or thikana was formerly in Jaipur State, now
in Rajasthan State. Area of the thikana was 800 square miles ,and the population
was 1,28,377 in 1931.
The estate was
founded in 1742, and is the second largest Thikana in Jaipur after Sikar, and
is related to the families of Heerwa, Alsisar, Badangarh and Arooka. It is
situated 233 kilometres to the north of Jaipur city and paid Rs 75,000 in tribute to the Jaipur Darbar. In
recognition of the military assistance given by Khetri in 1803, the East India
Company granted the pargana of Kotputli in Istimrar Jagir to Raja Abhay Singh,
he was also conferred with the title of Raja by the Maharaja of Jaipur. In
1806, the Jagir of Kotputli was converted into a perpetual free grant in
recognition of the gallant services of the Khetri Contingent on the occassion
of the disastrous retreat of Colonel Monson.
