DUJANA NON SALUTE STATE
Dujana is a village, formerly a princely state, in Beri tehsil of Jhajjar district of Haryana State,
India. The village is administrated by Sarpanch an elected representative of the village.
Duna
Princely State existed
since the time of Mughals. During the first
war of independence in 1857,
Nawab Hasan Ali of Dujana played key role.
It used to be a tiny
princely state of Punjab-Patiala where 'Nawab of Dujana' used to dominate a
small area.It was founded in 1806 by Abdussamad Khan. White flag with the arms
in the canton- used to be the symbol of Dujana state. In 1947, under pressure
from local population, the Nawab and his clan, including all Muslim inhabitants
of the village, left for Pakistan. Govt. of India allotted evacuee properties
to some Punjabi families who migrated from Pakistan. Now, some Punjabi families
live here. Some agricultural land was later acquired by Jats of neighbouring
villages, when Punjabis sold these lands. There could be a few Jat families
also in the village, with mujltiple gotras.
The old haveli of Nawab, the
disputed property, remains sealed till today and is in the custody of Haryana
Govt. There is belief that some precious jewellery may be inside the palace.
