BHAJJI STATE ( NON GUN SALUTE STATE )
Bhajji
State was a princely
state in India during
the period of the British
Raj. Its capital was Suni. The former princely state is now
part of the Indian state of Himachal
Pradesh. The area of the state was 248 Sq. Km. or 96 Sq. Miles and the population in 1901 was 13309.
Bhajji state founded
at an uncertain date before the 19th century. The state was occupied by Nepal from 1803
to 1815. On 21 September 1815 it became a British
protectorate.
In 1947, at the time of the Partition
of India,
Bhajji's ruler acceded to the newly independent Union of India. The rulers
bore the title of 'Rana'
and were from Pal dynasty.
The revenue
of the state in 1910 AD was Rs 23000 and the privy purse of the state was Rs.
16000. The date of accession of the state in to independent India was 15 April 1948.
